At the 2017 Met Gala, Kendall Jenner was the center of attention in what we called a “nearly naked dress.” But there was more to the model’s almost-nothing getup than that — a lot more.
The gown, by the Italian fashion house La Perla, featured 85,000 crystals. La Perla creative director Julia Haart told Elle that the crystals were strung into a single piece of “very strong, very flexible, incredibly thin” nylon string. The string plus the jewels became — voila! — the Jenner dress. “Aside from her underwear,” Haart said, “that’s it.” So, upon further review, maybe there wasn’t that much more to that head-turning dress after all.
